Southern Sour Recipe

Updated: Jun 19

The Southern Sour is inspired by the whiskey sour cocktail. This family of drinks is whiskey or bourbon based, with citrus flavors and a cherry garnish. We also like it with a few dashes of bitters to help offset the tartness. Sour cocktails are sometimes made with an egg white to create a foam on top, but we're not that fancy here. Typically, whiskey and bourbon are better served after a meal as a digestif, but when mixed in a cocktail they can also be a nice before dinner drink as well. Basically, you can drink it whenever you want!

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz Kentucky Bourbon

  • 2 oz Homemade Sour Mix

  • 2 - 3 Dashes Barrel Aged Bitters

  • Brandy Soaked Cocktail Cherries OR Maraschino Cherries

Directions:
  • Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker and shake a few times

  • Pour over 2 - 3 medium sized ice cubes

  • Garnish with cocktail cherries or a Maraschino cherry

Serve in:

Short tumbler glass
